Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison after being incarcerated for eight years.

But hold on, do you know who Gypsy is and are you familiar with her tragic life story?

The entire nation was stunned when the news of dee Blanchard’s murder came into the information.

Murder of mother planned by daughter.

It was no less than a creepy Hollywood crime story that the nation learned about.

Unrealistic story of Dee Dee and Gypsy

The case of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard has gone down in American history as one of the most recognized cases of suspected Munchausen by Proxy, a psychological ailment compelling a caregiver to seek attention by feigning illness in those under their care or making others believe they are unwell.

Dee Dee’s purported struggle with this disorder led her to spin a web of lies, deceiving friends, family, charities, physicians, and even her own daughter, Gypsy. She skillfully manipulated the narrative, convincing everyone that her daughter was profoundly sick and considerably younger than her actual age.

Taking her deceit to the extreme, Dee Dee convinced Gypsy that she was incapable of basic functions like walking, breathing, or eating normally. This elaborate ruse involved the use of a wheelchair, a feeding tube, and even oxygen support.

Need a recap of the complex situation?

Let’s go back to March 2008, when Dee Dee and Gypsy moved to Springfield, Missouri, to learn about the infamous crime case. This is where the crime took place.

Gypsy Life

Gypsy, residing under the watchful eye of her mother, found herself discontent with the course of her life. Unlike her peers, she couldn’t revel in the typical joys of adolescence. Convinced of her supposed illness, she was confined to the belief that venturing outside with her mother was not an option.

Yearning for a life beyond these constraints, Gypsy harbored a deep desire to forge new connections, socialize, and explore the city adventures. Despite her mother’s insistence on keeping her seated on wheelchairs for the entire day, Gypsy clung to a fervent longing for a different existence.

During the night, Gypsy would leave her wheelchair and try to walk and later on came to realize she could walk and her mother is knowingly restricting her. This newfound knowledge brought about a sense of liberation, leading her on a journey of self-exploration and breaking free from the restrictions placed upon her.

The Day Gipsy Tried To Escape From Her Mother

In February 2011, Gypsy made her first and seemingly only attempt to break free from her mother’s control. It all started when she met a 35-year-old man at a science fiction convention and later connected with him online.

She decided to follow him to his hotel room, but Dee Dee caught wind of her escape. As a consequence for trying to run away, Dee Dee harshly punished Gypsy. This included smashing her phone and computer, chaining her to a bed, and even putting bells on all the doors to prevent any further escape attempts.

Gypsy Started Online Chating

Following that incident, Gypsy found herself in an even more confined setting. However, during the quiet hours of the night, she would discreetly explore online platforms, seeking new connections and engage in conversations. It was during this nocturnal exploration that she encountered Nicholas Godejohn, a young man diagnosed with autism.

Their connection blossomed into a clandestine multi-year relationship, sustained through video calls and covert online messages. Despite the secrecy, one person was privy to their connection – their neighbor, Aleah Woodmanse.

Gypsy and Woodmanse shared a friendship, with the latter often engaging in pleasant conversations with Gypsy. It was in the confidence of this friendship that Gypsy revealed the details of her online relationship, expressing her love for Godejohn and sharing their aspirations of a future together.

Meeting of Gypsy and Nicholas Godejohn

After an extended period of online communication, Gypsy and Godejohn hatched a plan to win over Dee Dee and gain her approval of their relationship. Their strategy involved meeting in person for the first time in March 2015.

Unfortunately, the meeting didn’t go as hoped, and Dee Dee did not take kindly to Godejohn. This disapproval, in turn, resulted in severe punishment for Gypsy.

This marked a turning point for Gypsy, and a simmering anger began to take root in her heart. Fueled by desperation, she intensified her thoughts of escaping from her mother’s control.

United by a common goal, Gypsy and Godejohn started plotting their escape together, setting the stage for a dramatic and life-altering turn of events.

The Tragic Day They Ended Dee Dee’s Life

The date was June 19, 2015, a day that would forever alter the lives of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Nicholas Godejohn. Godejohn, having once again traveled to Missouri to rendezvous with Gypsy, checked into a nondescript motel room, anxiously awaiting the signal from Gypsy that her mother, Dee Dee, was sound asleep.

Under the veil of night, Godejohn made his way to the Blanchard residence, where Gypsy handed him a knife, gloves, and duct tape. In a gruesome turn of events, he proceeded to stab the unsuspecting Dee Dee a staggering 17 times, bringing about her tragic end.

During the heinous act, Gypsy sought refuge in the bathroom, a witness to the horrifying event unfolding in her own home.

Following the murder, the couple swiftly fled the scene, taking refuge in Godejohn’s motel room via a cab. From there, they discreetly made their way back to Big Bend, marking the beginning of a dark chapter that would soon come to light.

America Awakens to Dee Dee’s Death: The Shocking Revelation

Days passed, and the heinous murder remained shrouded in secrecy. No one was the wiser until an unexpected turn of events unfolded – Gypsy, the daughter of the victim, took to Dee Dee’s Facebook account to make a chilling update.

A concise yet startling post read, “Bitch is Dead.”

This cryptic message sent shockwaves through the neighborhood and among friends. Alarmed and concerned, they promptly alerted the authorities. The revelation of Dee Dee’s demise spread like wildfire, and the unfolding tragedy soon gripped the nation.

In the aftermath, the law caught up with Gypsy and Godejohn. Both were apprehended and faced the consequences of their actions. In February 2019, Godejohn received a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Gypsy Blanchard, on the other hand, opted to plead guilty to second-degree murder. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, a decision that garnered some sympathy from the defense, painting a complex picture of a tragic tale that had captivated the entire nation’s attention.
